Stargate SG-1: The Alliance

210° 15' NET

Well, it looks nice and cool (though a little cubistic), but I fear that it's going to be with limited freedom of movement. That means that you can't approach as you would like to.

They have one shot to make this work. I really really hope that they won't screw up with this game, because it's potential is so great. If it would be killed by unperforming, that would make me very sad indeed.

I'm sure they are trying to make it special, because if they succeed there will be more games based on Stargate universe. And that would be nice.

Oh yeah, shooters are nice :) I started with Doom. Had my first experience on my cousins computer. I was just blown away...more ways than one ;)

Stargate SG-1: The Alliance is cross platform, so it's coming for PC and consoles. And they are developing them at the same time, which is an important point.
Most of the time a game is a let down -from a PC gamers point of view- if it's first out on consoles and then converted for PC.
I think the most horrible example was Spiderman 2 - the one with octopussy-guy. On PC it was just a rip off, total waste of money. I don't know how much you pay for your average game over there, here it's about 50€ - that's about 66 bucks, so you don't want to spend it on something which only pissed you off.
On consoles it was much better. I didn't play it on consoles, but that's what others told me.

UT is a great game, though I'm not so big on multiplaying on-line. Don't have so much time on my hands.
Stargate SG-1: The Alliance is based on a heavily modified and graphically enhanced Unreal 2.5 engine so that gives some hope of a good game :)

Halo....well, I did play it on PC as a single player, but...hmmmm....I had difficulties to finish it. The game was not too hard with medium difficulty level, but it was too repetative and even worse it sucked arse by being a very resource eating...thing. Textures were on a low side, and sometimes AMD 64 Athlon + Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro combo had problems keeping up with feeding the game. With 1G of RAM. That is a total mystery to me.
So, you could say that I didn't really enjoy it very much.
I hear Halo2 is acting better, but to be honest, I don't have any desire to get that one.

I'm waiting to see how Stargate SG-1: The Alliance turns out - supposed to be released at the end of the year, but I think it'll slip over until early next year. Those time schedules rarely hold.

Another game which I know is going to be something really good is Flashpoint 2, to be released next year somewhere in the 1Q.
